We ought this coffee way back in 2018, and it knocked our socks off. Over the years we had tasted it, and it was just never where it was that year, until now. We were pleased to find the quality and taste back to where we knew it to be. Juicy malic acidity with clean flavors of dark fruits and tropics in the cup. This coffee is intense in the best way possible.

Kiamabara Coffee Factory was established in 1995 following the split of the much larger Mathira F.C.S. It is affiliated with the Mugaga Farmers’ Cooperative Society (FCS). There are now around 3,000 active members of this factory and each member has on average around half a hectare of land for coffee growing alongside macadamia, beans, bananas, and maize. The factory is located in the town of Kabare in the Gichugu division, Mathira East sub-county, Gachuki location in Nyeri County. It's near Karatina Town, and along with Gatina, it comprises the Mugaga Farmer Cooperative Society. Kiamabara Coffee Factory experiences moderate bimodal rainfall and temperatures range from 13 to 24oC year round. The region has deep, fertile, well-drained red volcanic soils that are ideal for coffee production. The factory lies at about 1900m above sea level and receives 1150 mm of rainfall annually.

First the coffee is picked ripe and depulped the same day, then it is normally fermented in open-air tanks made of concrete or cement for 24–48 hours. It's then washed thoroughly using water channels before being soaked underwater for 12–72 hours. It is then spread on raised beds to dry.

*We roast Monday-Wednesday. Please note that all retail orders ship USPS ground and usually take 2-4 business days to arrive depending on location. For all 5lb bag orders, please advise that due to our roasting schedule, if your order for a 5lb bag comes in on Wednesday after 10am, or later in the week, we may not have enough coffee on hand to fulfill your larger order, and will revert to the next Tuesday to ship you out fresh coffee.
