DECAF / COLOMBIA
This is our Decaf. It is a EA washed processed coffee from Colombia. Its pretty dang good. In fact, we have pulled it on espresso and served it to people (other baristas) without telling them it was decaf, and they had no idea. Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, that's good Decaf.
The Ethyl Acetate decaf method exposes the green beans to water and steam in order to expand the cells of the bean before washing them with an Ethyl Acetate solution, which attracts and removes the caffeine. The Ethyl Acetate used in this process is a naturally obtained byproduct of the fermentation of sugar cane. After the Ethyl Acetate wash, coffees are rinsed and dried. We believe it to be the best way to create amazing decaffeinated coffees.
